Somtimes we just head out somewhere armed with an A - Z and torches and see
what the day turns up! Well? Southampton wasn't in the mood to turn up
anything for us! We had a hit list of a possible nine drains,
and it could be said that we had a thoroughly succesful day as we did
locate all nine drains. It just so happened that all nine were not of
a size that you'd want to invest much time exploring. Our first port
of call infact was likely our biggest success in southampton. After
popping a manhole cover in a public park we descended into a junction
chamber where five fairly small rcp's met, but it was worth investigating,
if only for five minutes. From here on in we just seemed to turn up smaller
and smaller drains, driving from Industrial Estates to Golf Courses, we got
to see a diverse cross section of Southampton residents, just no real quality
Southampton Subterranea. The fall back plan as usual was to keep our eyes open
for any interesting looking abandonments, but we were equally fruitless in this
area as well. Goodbye Southampton!
