HOME UNDERGROUND EXCESS

Processor

The first drain of the UKs first draining expo in August 2004, Processor started the day off nicely. Stoop and I had explored Processor two months previous to the expo off the back of it being discovered, unsurprisingly, by Siologen Jeeves Westminster. One and three quarter miles in length, its height never drops below eight foot and at its highest reaches around eleven foot.

A foul sewer runs parallel, but seperate, to Processor and at points along its length chambers at an upper level span both the culvert and the sewer and can be accessed by ladders giving you a glimpse of processor's poo flavoured ugly sibling. That said it's to the sibling that Processor owes its name. At two points along its length side pipes lead to modern overflow chambers crammed full of processing machinery, presumably to seperate out as much solid matter as possible from any sewer overflow which would flow directly into Processor when the sewer is overwhelmed. There are varied methods of construction throughout, from concrete box sections, RCP, and super encrusted circular red brick that look almost cave like. Lots of interesting twists, turns, side pipes, ladders and general nooks and crannies make this a fantastic drain, if not a bit of a slog through its lengthy rcp section. Its moss covered crumbling outfall is just upstream of the infall of Inhospitable on the Moston Brook and looks like something from a long forgotten civilization.
